Kimiko Ishizaka
Bio: For German-Japanese pianist Kimiko Ishizaka, the study of Bach starts at the kitchen table where she reads the manuscript score and listens to the music in her head, pausing on a chord or isolating a theme, always seeking to understand the intricate relationships between the notes. Only when every question has been answered do her fingers touch the keys of the piano. This approach produced the Open Goldberg Variations recording, released in 2012, as well as her interpretation of the Well Tempered Clavier, to be played at the Glenn Gould Variations.Presenting: Kimiko Ishizaka joins Robert Douglass.
